The future of news media is in our hands
As senior anchor/correspondent, Rickey Bevington is a mainstay with Atlantans during the afternoon drive as local host for NPR’s nationally syndicated “All Things Considered,” weekdays 4-7 p.m.
A two-time Emmy winner, Rickey brings nearly two decades of award-winning experience in the media industry including cable entertainment at Sundance Channel and Showtime Networks, local TV news at WFSB-TV 3 (CBS) in Hartford, Conn., publishing with Fodor’s and the Hartford Courant, and reporting for NPR and PBS. Her work is recognized by local and national journalism organizations including the Southeast Emmy Awards, RTDNA’s Edward R. Murrow Awards, Georgia Association of Broadcasters, Atlanta Press Club, Public Radio News Directors Inc, Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalists.
An Atlanta native, Rickey is a believer in volunteerism and shaping her community. Georgia Trend Magazine named her on its 2016 list of “40 Under 40” leaders making a positive impact in Georgia. The Atlanta Business Chronicle also named her on its 2015 list of “40 Under 40” young leaders.
She serves on the Atlanta Press Club’s Board of Governors and on the Board of the Georgia Associated Press Media Editors, the Atlanta BeltLine “67” Advisory Board, and Dad’s Garage Theater. In March 2014, Rickey was the only Georgian appointed to a prestigious Marshall Memorial Fellowship by the German Marshall Fund of the United States. In 2013, Rickey traveled with the U.S. Department of State as a Legislative Fellow studying political systems of Sri Lanka and India. She is a graduate of LEAD Atlanta.
