Thad Starner

Thad Starner coined the term "augmented reality" in 1990. He is a strong advocate of continuous-access, everyday-use systems, and has worn his own customized wearable computer continuously since 1993. His work has touched on handwriting and sign-language analysis, intelligent agents and augmented realities.

He is founder and director of the Contextual Computing Group at the Georgia Institute of Technoogy's College of Computing and the technical lead for Google Glass. Thad holds multiple degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D from the MIT Media Lab.
